Kohtaamisia maailmalla – Rautalampi mainittu

Kaikenlaisia hassuja kohtaamisia on jo tähän lyhyeen matkaan mahtunut. Eräänä aamuna liikennevaloissa yksi mies toivotti meille ”huomenta”. Satuimme olemaan menossa samaan suuntaan, joten juttelimme hetken aikaa siinä kävellessä tämän turkkilaisen, suomessa vaihdossa olleen koodarin kanssa. Hän kehotti meitä lähtemään pois kaupungin keskustasta ja niinpä vuokrasimmekin pyörät, kuten aiemmin kirjoitin.

Rautalampi-linkki löytyi

Olen tehnyt tutkimusta ja huomannut, että ihan mihin päin maailmaa meneekään niin viikon sisällä tulee vastaan joku rautalampilainen tai jokin muu linkki emäpitäjään. Näin kävi tälläkin kertaa.

Kun olimme äänestämässä piti tietoja kirjata lomakkeeseen ja kun ilmoitin kotipaikakseni Rautalammin kysyi takanani jonottanut nainen, että olenko todella kotoisin Rautalammilta. Siinä juteltuamme ilmeni, että naisen (Heli Pakarinen) miehen Carl Pakarisen suku on kotoisin Rautalammin Pakarilasta. Näin se maailma on pieni.

Onnittelut NFL-tähdeltä

Yksi hämmästyttävimmistä kohtaamisista oli kuitenkin entisen NFL jenkkifutaajan, Oakland Raidersin #56 linebackerin Jeff Barnesin kanssa. Hän sattui olemaan San Franciscon NFL-kaupassa pyörimässä ja menimme juttelemaan hänelle. Kerroin, että ystävälläni (joka on myös jenkkifutaaja Suomessa) olisi muutaman tunnin päästä häät ja pyysin olisiko mahdollista saada onnittelut häneltä.

Jeff innostui heti, vaikka ripittikin minua ihan aiheellisesti siitä, että mitä ihmettä minä teen San Franciscossa, jos ystäväni häät on Suomessa. Sain kuitenkin edes vähän armoa, kun kerroin kuitenkin olleeni polttareissa mukana.

Muutoinkin äijä oli ihan ilmiliekeissä häistä ja kaikista muistakin asioista mitä juttelimme. Hänen aloitteestaan jauhoimme muun muassa hetken suomen jenkkifutistilanteesta. Hän tiesi lajin olevan täällä pohjolassa vielä aika lapsen kengissä, mutta toivoi kaikkea hyvää, että laji kasvaisi suositummaksi myös näillä leveysasteilla.

Barnesilta jäi reissuporukkamme sisäpiirihuumoriin elämään tapa jolla hän aina syttyi jollekin asialle mitä hänelle kertoi ja hoki samaa sanaa monta kertaa putkeen. ”Yesyesyesyes”, uskoisin että tulette kuulemaan tätä vielä.

Teemu on aina Teemu

Joskus kohtaamiseksi riittää juttelun sijasta pelkkä katse. Yksi tämän reissun uskomattomimpia kohtaamisia oli Anaheimissa, Honda Center-areenalla. Olimme seuraamassa NHL-joukkueiden alkulämmittelyä kaukalon reunalla ja heiluttelimme suomen lippua ”ihan vaan vähän fiiliksissä”.

Kun joukkueen varakapteeni, elävä legenda numerolla #8 luisteli meidän luokse ja hymyili meille siinä meinasi isonkin pojan silmä kostua. Samalla hetkelläJarna ja Taru, ketkä eivät niin aktiivisesti seuraa kiekkoa rakastuivat Teemuun. Eikä ihme, onhan se ihan käsittämätön pelaaja ja ihminen. Respect!
